
Basic Life Support for
Healthcare Provider Course
Course Description
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to
provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the
ability to recognize several life-threatening
emergencies, provide CPR for victims of all ages, use an AED
(automated external defibrillator), and relieve
choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The
course is video-based with instructor-led discussion and
simulation. Students will participate in, practice and
complete various skills and learning stations. Ideal for
those who prefer group interaction and feedback from an
instructor while learning skills.
Intended Audience
The
course is intended for certified or noncertified,
licensed or nonlicensed healthcare professionals such as
physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical
technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and
occupational therapists, physician's assistants, medical
or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied
health personnel who must have a credential card
documenting successful completion of a CPR course.
Course Content
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
• Adult and pediatric CPR (including 2-rescuer scenarios
and use of the bag mask)
• Foreign-body airway obstruction
• Use of automated external defibrillation with CPR

Written/Skills Exam: Written exam and skills test
Card Type: BLS for Healthcare
Providers course completion card will be issued
within 30 days of the class, but the instructor will
provide a course completion letter at the end of the
class. This is a two-year
certification.
